Our Mission

Grenada Community Foundation works to improve the quality of life for all residents of the greater Grenada area. We build a stronger, more vibrant community by connecting people who care with causes that matter. Our goal is to serve as a catalyst for positive community change in downtown Grenada and surrounding areas of Grenada County. We are dedicated to attracting capital: human, emotional, intellectual and financial – towards building permanent, sustainable community resources.

  • Attracting strategic grants and making community investments;

  • Creating and hosting an environment in which community issues and priorities can first be identified and discussed, then acted upon – in harmony.

  • Helping to build community unity and vision.

National Register of Historic Places

In 2014, the National Park Service formally recognized our beloved downtown as the Grenada Downtown Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Approximately 100 buildings are included. Their owners are eligible to receive federal and state tax credits for renovations completed in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s principles for restoration of historic buildings.

Task Forces of Grenada Community Foundation

Fundraising & Grants

We raise every nickel we invest, from individual and corporate donations, grants, and support from the County and City. This is the hardest part of what we do.

Membership

Grenada Community Foundation members get first dibs on information on events, and special opportunities just for members. We need help in growing our membership.

Programming

We work with FCSNA and GAFF and the Chamber and others on major events, and also host our own. Have an idea? Let us know and together we can make it happen.

Task Forces of the Downtown Innovation District Association

Design & Visioning

We have an abundance of blessings, from outdoor recreation and natural resources to a strong manufacturing community, an award-winning consolidated school system and higher education opportunities with Holmes Community College, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Delta State University. Music and art are all around us. We need to build a unified community vision tying it all together.

Promotion

We have made substantial progress in rebuilding our beautiful spaces and bringing the downtown community alive. We need more people to know about our events, and the living, working, and investing opportunities downtown. Can you help us with media attention, or social media? Like to write press releases? We need you.

Farmers’ Market

Years ago, Tommy and Leslie Moss were determined to create a Farmers Market, and asked the foundation for help. To this day, the market is going strong under Committee Leaders Jan Walton and Steve Winters and Market Manager Ann Robinson. They not only keep the market going, but offer a variety of programs each season.
