Volunteers play an essential role in inspiring and engaging our community to fulfill the mission and goals of Grenada Community Foundation.  GCF is always on the lookout for dynamic and curious people who want to be a part of the GCF team.

Fund Raising & Development Build funds for operations, program, and endowment
Donor Advised Accounts Develop materials to explain how these work; introduce the concept by mail and in person meetings to lawyers, bar association, financial advisors, and accountants. Choose service providers and oversee effectiveness. Kevin Moore

Grenada Downtown Innovation District Imagine Grenada of the future and develop and help implement a plan for Historic District. Work with others interested in a thriving downtown.

Farmers Market Organizes the logistics, the vendors, the promotion, the programs, and the policies of the Farmers Market, in keeping with the USDA Certification Guidelines. Consider creating a companion craft market.

GCF Strategic Plan Develops a longer term vision for GCF and its role in the Grenada Community, including annual and medium term fundraising goals, program concepts, and community engagement. Deborah Bailey
GG365 Organize and oversee the yearlong campaign to bring in new and recurring donors in this community development work; recommends to the board the number,  amount, and size of annual grants; oversees the creation of the Review Committee and the policies re voting and grant funding.

Health & Recreation Develops plans for improvement of health and well-being through fun! James Hardiman
Mississippi Children’s Collaborative Envisions and drives the process of moving Grenada toward becoming a center of excellence in early childhood development over three years’ time.

  • Continues review of early childhood initiatives elsewhere
  • Manages the GCF role in working with early learning centers and supplementing their resources to reach $ Quality Stars;
  • Partners with Early Years Network to develop the GCF Early Learning Advantage Center;
  • Continues development of community support for children and education up through HS.

Nominating Reviews board performance and mix of skills, backgrounds, ages, genders, racial mix and access to continue the board’s development as a strong working board, representing the community broadly. Nominates candidates to serve on the board to fill vacancies, and, over time, on an annual basis.

Growth through Story Telling Researches the power of storytelling and devises an approach for Grenada, following role models established in Colquitt, Georgia, and Winona.  Consider inviting Joy Links from Colquitt to visit and consult.

Wealth Building Develops programs and events and other devices to bring various skills alive in our community:

  • Financial literacy and saving habits for children through HS as well as adults and families;
  • Investment Clubs for people of all ages, with possible GHS or GMS focus;
  • Consider formation of an angel investment group in Grenada; Innovate MS will help.
  • Consider formation of a Community Development Fund
