Grenada’s Farmers’ Market
The Grenada Farmer’s Market is certified through MSU Extension Service and registered with Mississippi MarketMaker™, an Internet tool administered by the Mississippi State University Extension Service that connects consumers with growers, producers, and farmers’ markets. The market is also registered in the USDA National Farmers Market Directory, a searchable database designed to provide the public with convenient access to information about U.S. farmer’s market locations, directions, operating times, and product offerings.
What does a certified market mean? Certified means that the Department of Agriculture of the State of Mississippi has inspected the participating farms to ensure the produce being sold at the markets is Mississippi grown. (Produce in grocery stores might not be grown in Mississippi).
Not only is Grenada Farmer’s Market certified, but it is unique in that produce is grown in the local area and crafts offered at the market are handmade by local-area artisans. The market has a refreshment booth offering market goers an opportunity to grab a snack and enjoy the camaraderie of friends and neighbors.
The Grenada Farmers’ Market kicks off its third season on Saturday, May 4th at 7:00am. We will once again be located in the Grenada Square Shopping Center parking lot next to Burger King. Our mission is to provide Grenadines access to the highest quality fresh, locally-grown produce, homemade food items, and handmade crafts from local artisans. We also want to foster a sense of community by promoting a vibrant, festive atmosphere that draws people together.
Come join us at the Market every Saturday now through September 28, 2013.
